BASIC was created in 1998 and was formed as a joint powers authority to provide a unified commitment to well-funded self-insurance programs for liability and property coverage. Our membership currently consists of six California Joint Powers Authorities (JPA).
Any public educational agency in the State of California is eligible for membership to the group. To obtain an application and pricing quotation to join BASIC, please contact us.
The Bay Area Schools Insurance Cooperative (BASIC) has met all of the stringent professional standards established by the California Association of Joint Powers Authorities (CAJPA) in the areas of governance, finance, claims control, safety and loss prevention, excess coverage, and risk management. CAJPA’s accreditation process requires reviews by independent consultants in all of the foregoing areas, including accounting, claims management, and actuarial analysis. BASIC is proud to have received an “Accreditation with Excellence,” the highest designation possible from the California Association of Joint Powers Authorities.
